Northwest Little League

Spring Season Expectations

New to the Northwest League, or need a refresher? Here's a rundown of what you can expect:

Registration: Our sign-ups start in December and run until late January. Spots fill up fast due to limited fields and volunteers, so mark your calendars!

Coaches: We start searching for amazing coaches during registration to ensure they have ample time to prepare. Remember, Northwest Little League is powered by volunteers – consider stepping up and leading your player's team!

Coaching Clinic: All coaches attend a training session covering Little League rules, team management, and teaching fundamentals. This equips them to lead successful and enjoyable seasons.

Player Evaluations: Players ages 7-14  will participate in an evaluation day showcasing basic baseball/softball skills. This is not a tryout – all players will be placed on a team. Evaluations help ensure balanced teams and that each player is placed within the correct division for their skill level.

Team Formation: T-Ball teams are both chosen by coaches and placed by the registar to ensure teams have enough players. For older divisions (Coach Pitch, Minors, Majors, Junior), teams are drafted to create fair competition. Sibling requests are honored, but player pairing requests are not allowed for Spring Season. Special circumstances can be discussed – just contact us! Coach requests are handled directly by the coaches themselves when building their teams.

Opening Day: Get ready for the big kick-off! We aim for all teams to play their first game on Opening Day. This marks the start of your 10+ game regular season, with practices and games planned for 2-3 days a week.

Game Schedule: The league creates the schedule, with hte majority of games and practices scheduled Monday-Saturday. Teams won't necessarily play or practice on the same days or times each week, so be prepared for some flexibility!

Post-Season: Divisions with 4 or more teams get to experience the thrill of a double-elimination tournament, culminating in championship games. This exciting evening also features Family Fun Night with skills competitions.

Fields and Facilities: While coaches have access to various practice fields, most games will be held at Northwest Park or Slater-White Park. Northwest Park offers a full concession stand with hot food and classic ballpark treats.

Additional Notes:

  • T-Ball players don't participate in evaluations or the post-season tournament, but they're invited to Family Fun Night. See League Info for detailed division descriptions.
  • Rainouts will be rescheduled for the earliest available slot, which may include Wednesday evenings.

Get ready for an unforgettable season filled with fun, teamwork, and the joy of baseball/softball! Join the Northwest Little League family today!

Fall Ball Expectations

New to the League, or need a Fall Ball refresher? Here's what you can expect at Northwest Little League:

Registration: Mark your calendars! Fall Ball registration opens in June and runs to late July. Don't miss out on the chance to develop your skills!

Coaches: Once players register, we assemble our amazing volunteer coaches. Interested in leading a team and fostering a love of the game? We'd love to have you join the coaching crew!

Coaching Clinic: All coaches attend a training session to learn Little League rules, team management tips, and how to develop players' fundamentals. This equips them to create a fun and educational Fall Ball experience.

Focus on Development: The Fall Ball season is all about learning! Whether it's mastering new skills, transitioning to a different division, or trying out a new position, Fall Ball provides a supportive environment for growth. We don't keep score or create standings, so there's no pressure to win – just pure enjoyment of the game. You'll participate in a series of friendly games against other Fall Ball teams to put your new skills to the test.

Team Formation: There are no Fall Ball evaluations. Teams are formed by a combination of coach selection and the League ensuring balanced player distribution. Special requests for teammates cannot be guaranteed, but siblings will always be placed on the same team.

Game Time! Get ready to hit the field after team formation! The Fall Ball season typically runs from Labor Day to Halloween. Your team manager will distribute the practice and game schedule once finalized.

Game Schedule: Fall Ball games are played Monday through Saturday. Younger divisions (T-Ball, Coach Pitch) will have earlier start times compared to older age groups. Expect one or two games per week, with varying days each week. First games typically start around 6:00 PM, with later games around 7:30 PM.

Fields and Facilities: While coaches have access to various practice fields around North Greenville and Travelers Rest, games are primarily held at Northwest Park and Slater-White Park. Northwest Park offers a full concession stand with hot food and classic ballpark snacks to fuel your game day experience!

We look forward to seeing you on the field for a fantastic Fall Ball season filled with learning, teamwork, and pure baseball/softball fun!
